At any time of the year, due to major changes in the water level and, of course, changes in vegetation, the Kravica waterfall offers different and unique experiences.
The height of the Trebižat river below the waterfall is 28 meters, while it is 54 meters above the waterfall.
The waterfall at the top has the shape of a semicircle, about 120 meters wide, and is made of travertine.
In the summer period, due to the lower water level in the pool under the waterfall, it is possible to swim and enjoy water sports.
It is situated in mountainous country along the Neretva River and lies on the Sarajevo-Ploče rail line.
Mostar became a Turkish garrison town in the 16th century. In 1566 the Turks replaced the town’s wooden suspension bridge over the Neretva with a stone arch one and was a masterpiece of Ottoman engineering
In November 1993, during the Bosnian civil war, the bridge was destroyed by artillery fire. A major rebuilding project was undertaken to restore the bridge and nearby buildings that had also been damaged; the bridge reopened in 2004. The bridge and the surrounding area were added to UNESCO’s World Heritage list in 2005
Vjetrenica is the largest and most famous cave in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a protected natural monument and a tourist destination in the southeastern part of Herzegovina.
Vjetrenica is a hydrologically active flowing speleological object with as many as 4 water streams, and dozens of smaller periodic streams with underground lakes. It is located on the southern Dinaric karst area, with the entrance at the very edge of Popovo polje, 300m east of the center of the village of Zavale at 260m above sea level, 12km by air to the Adriatic Sea.
Vjetrenica is a cave with a cold and strong wind at the entrance, which is why it got its name.
